“We Say, We Do”: Our Students Join the FRSC Ikotun Unit for Children’s Day

On Saturday, 30th May 2026, our Road Safety Club had a morning to remember, joining the Federal Road Safety Corps, Ikotun Unit, for their Children’s Day celebration alongside the Unit Commander and members of the Corps.

 It wasn’t your typical school outing. Standing shoulder to shoulder with children of the Corps’ Special Marshals and Regular Marshals, our students found themselves part of something bigger than a classroom lesson — a live demonstration of what it means to serve, to protect, and to show up for a community.

The Road Safety Club has spent the term learning about traffic signs, pedestrian safety, and the everyday choices that keep our roads safe. This event turned that learning into something they could feel. There’s a difference between reading about road safety in a textbook and standing in a parade ground chanting the Corps’ call-and-response with everyone around you: “We say!” — “We do!” It’s a simple exchange, but it carries weight. It’s a promise, said out loud, together.

For the Marshals’ own children, days like this are ordinary — they grow up around the uniform, the discipline, the early mornings. For our students, it was a glimpse into a world of service most of them only encounter from the back seat of a car, watching a Marshal wave traffic through an intersection. Meeting the Unit Commander, hearing directly from the men and women who spend their days keeping Lagos roads safe, put a face to that uniform.

We’re grateful to the FRSC Ikotun Unit for opening their Children’s Day celebration to our students and for the work they do, every day, long after the parade ground empties and the roads fill back up. Events like this matter to us because they echo something we try to build in every student who walks through our gates: that character shows up in the small, unglamorous, daily choices — the ones nobody applauds, but everybody depends on.
